How to create test scenario for different access permissions? Empty How to create test scenario for different access permissions?

Post  sudheerchandaluri Mon Jan 27, 2014 12:37 am

Hi,

I'm working as a tester for an application which has about 10,000+ test cases. Now, we're planning to automate them and for that first we want to convert these test cases into test scenarios where 1 test scenario will cover multiple test cases. I'm having some queries in this regards.

I've different type of access permission for a tab in my application namely 'No Access', 'View', 'Edit', 'Create' and 'Full'. If user has only view access, he can only view the tab and cannot do any CRUD operations. If he has edit access, he can edit the records in the tab but cannot create/delete the records in that tab etc. I've one test case for each of these permission.

Now can any one tell me what is best approach for converting this 5 test cases into scenario. Is it enough to write ONE generic scenario for all these 5 test cases and map them to it or do we need to write separate scenarios for each of these test cases.

Thanks in advance,
Sudheer.
